In a decisive victory, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has been declared the winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on November 8, 2025. The announcement was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) early Sunday morning at the state collation center in Awka.
According to official results, Soludo swept the polls across a majority of local government areas, reaffirming APGA’s long-standing dominance in Anambra politics. His victory cements his position for another four-year term as governor of the southeastern state.
The election, which was described as largely peaceful, saw impressive voter turnout in key urban centers such as Awka, Nnewi, and Onitsha. Security operatives were deployed across the state to ensure order, while observers commended the transparency of the collation process.
In his victory speech, Governor Soludo thanked the people of Anambra for their continued trust and promised to accelerate development across all sectors.
“This victory is for every Anambra man, woman, and child. We remain committed to transforming our state into a modern, prosperous, and livable homeland,” Soludo said.
Rival candidates from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Labour Party (LP) have since congratulated Soludo, acknowledging the credibility of the election.
Political analysts say Soludo’s re-election is a strong endorsement of his administration’s reforms in infrastructure, education, and security. With renewed public confidence, expectations are high for his next term to consolidate on ongoing projects and further strengthen the state’s economy.
The Anambra governorship election marks another victory for APGA, which has maintained control of the state since 2006, solidifying its position as the dominant regional party in southeastern Nigeria.
