According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the operation was launched following credible intelligence received on October 14, 2025, regarding terrorist hideouts around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages in Ibi Local Government Area.
Acting on the information, troops swiftly conducted clearance operations in the identified locations. During the engagement at Badekoshi, the soldiers made contact with the terrorists, forcing them to retreat toward Fajul village.
“The gallant troops pursued the fleeing criminals with superior firepower, compelling them to abandon their positions and escape deeper into the forest,” the statement read.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and one Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during a previous attack at Tapga village.
Commander of the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to sustain the momentum until all criminal elements are neutralised in Taraba State.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing continued collaboration with other security agencies and local communities to ensure lasting peace in the region.
The statement also recalled that on October 1, 2025, the brigade successfully foiled a terrorist attack in Tor-Ikyeghgba village, neutralising two suspected terrorists. Acting on credible intelligence, troops engaged the criminals along the powerline axis, using superior firepower to repel the assault.
