Residents and businesses in Gombe State are expected to experience intermittent power supply over the next ten days as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) commences maintenance work on its main transmission substation in the state.
According to TCN, the operation is part of its routine preventive maintenance programme aimed at improving power stability and enhancing the overall efficiency of electricity transmission across the North-East region.
The exercise will involve the shutdown of certain feeders and the replacement of critical control and protection panels — a process that may temporarily disrupt electricity supply to parts of Gombe State.
In a statement released on Tuesday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah announced that the maintenance work would run from October 14 to 24, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily, at the Gombe 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
Mbah noted that the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) would continue to receive bulk power supply throughout the period.
“To minimize inconvenience, load from the Shongo 33kV feeder will be transferred to the Darazo 33kV feeder, while supply from Mallam Sidi will be rerouted to the Doma 33kV feeder,” the statement explained.
TCN assured residents that adequate measures have been put in place to mitigate the impact of the maintenance exercise, emphasizing that the operation is essential for preventing system failures and ensuring long-term reliability of power supply.
“Preventive maintenance is a crucial part of our operations,” Mbah added. “We appeal to the public for understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance the quality and stability of electricity supply in Gombe and its surrounding areas.”
